The Holiest of Holy Days
By Jon Golding
As a child I always felt the most important Holy Day was Christmas. I was probably swayed by all of the glitz and glitter which accompanied Christmas. As I matured and my relationship with God developed and grew, I have come to appreciate and enjoy Easter and Holy Week as the most important time during the Christian calendar.
The whole basis of our Christian Faith is God giving us his son to die for our sins. What a tremendous sacrifice. With having children of our own, it would be unimaginable to give them up to save someone else.
Please make every effort to attend any of the services during the week in the future. While each of the Holy Days has its own special uniqueness, Easter Vigil remains the most important Mass of the year. With total darkness at the beginning of Mass, the readings and hymns being sung so beautifully, and the introduction of the new members, the Vigil is very special. This week is a very holy week that hopefully can be a springboard for the remainder of the religious year.
