Religious Education Programs

Adult Faith Formation and Religious Education
It is important that all of us, no matter the age or where we are on our faith journey, to be educated in the faith and spiritually nourished. The Parish of Christ The King offers different programs throughout the year to assist youth and adults in their lifelong journey of growing in holiness.

RCIA
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) provides adults with the opportunity to explore the Catholic faith and its teachings. Through participation in the RCIA process, adults may come to the desire to receive the sacraments of Initiation (i.e. Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation) and commit themselves (or re-commit themselves in the case of those who once began the journey but for some reason it was interrupted) to the Catholic faith.

While the RCIA is focused on the conversion of the individual and their personal faith journey, the RCIA process also renews the entire parish community through the shared experience of growing in faith.

The RCIA program at Christ The King starts each year in September. This year we will begin on Sunday, September 20, 2009. The sessions meet each Sunday, between the 8:00 AM and 10:30 AM Masses, in the Parish Center. If you are interested, please contact Deacon Vince Bernardin, or Mike Vogel, RCIA Coordinator, through our Parish Office, 812-476-3061.

Ongoing Adult Faith Formation Opportunities
Throughout the year, we offer a variety of educational and spiritual opportunities to enrich the faith lives of adults in our parish. Christ The King participates in the Why Catholic? program. This program consists of two 6-week sessions which focus on the truths of the Catholic faith, and we meet in a small setting. We encourage you to see our bulletin for up-to-date offerings.

In addition, there are also many opportunities for faith formation offered by the Diocese of Evansville and the nearby St. Meinrad Archabbey and School of Theology. For more information on any of these programs, please call the Parish Office at 812-476-3061.

School-based Religious Education
The children who attend Christ The King School receive ongoing religious education in the Catholic faith tradition, as well as sacramental preparation. In addition, families are invited to participate in our Family-based Religious Education program.

Family-based Religious Education
Our Family-based Religious Education program is designed primarily to provide religious education and sacramental preparation to those families whose children do not attend Catholic schools. However, this program is open to all families at Christ the King. Please contact Deacon Vince Bernardin at 812-476-3061 or at vbernardin@ctkevv.org if you are interested in participating in this program.
