Learning Tree Program Curriculum

Each week our Learning Tree children will have a schedule time for:

  • Spanish

  • PE

  • Computer Lab

  • Music Class

  • Art Class

  • Library

  • Bible Study

  • Recess

  • School Mass (8:30 a.m. each Wednesday)

Our curriculum is centered on Creative Curriculum and the project approach. The project approach is based on the children deciding what they want to learn rather than letting the teacher make all the choices. The teachers encourage the children to do their best work and use positive reinforcement. We encourage children to develop an internal desire to learn their numbers and letters, as well as to draw, share, help and use manners. The curriculum of both classrooms will include certain “basics” that contribute to the children’s social emotional, intellectual, and physical development. These basics include helping and encouraging children when they are developmentally ready to learn. Our program will incorporate hand-on-activities, rather than an overabundance of worksheets. The classroom will be divided into different areas. Included will be an art area, block area, science and math area, library area, dramatic play area, and writing area. Play is work to children. Through playing, children in the Learning Tree will learn many different skills. They will develop social, language, fin and gross motor and risk-taking skills, while learning how to be problem solvers. Learning manners and expressing themselves creatively is also a core portion of the Learning Tree program.
